Government College Hathin is located in a rural setting and serves the educational needs of students from the surrounding rural and semi-rural areas. Established in May 2017, the college was founded with the objective of providing higher education opportunities to the students of the educationally backward Mewat region.

Prior to its establishment, many students either discontinued their studies or had to relocate to other areas to pursue higher education. The college commenced its first academic session with fewer than one hundred students, offering only two undergraduate programs in the faculties of Arts and Commerce. In response to growing demand, the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program was introduced inĀ  2019.

Government College Hathin is affiliated with Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, and is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act. Currently, the institution offers undergraduate degree programs in Arts, Commerce, and Science (Non-Medical). As of the current academic session, the college has an enrollment of approximately 520 students.

The college is committed to providing quality education in an environment that emphasises security, dedication, and academic freedom.
